Perfecting the Tree

Image
I learned to perfect the tree, you have to make it look like its a living tree.  You have to make the leaves have weight and the branches flow and the roots go into the soil like they're sucking up water.  I kind of knew this already but I was reminded that I'm pretty observant about nature. The next thing is to just keep practicing because practice makes perfect.  After this project is done, I'm going to keep making trees and sell them.

Adding Details

I feel like I'm getting really good at the leaves.  They are the things that take the most amount of time because it takes a lot of bending and patience.    I'm experimenting with the number of wires per tree.  Some are thinner and some are thicker.  The thinner ones you get about two branches.  If you use 12-15 wires, you can get 3 or 4 branches.  And so on and so on. I like the like the look of a tree with more branches but since it does take more time you need more focus.  Some days it can be hard to focus.  Some days I just want to give up. From here I think I want to make some to sell.  Next week I'll have to order more pots if I'm going to do this.

Planting the Bonsais

This week I learned more about how I want to plant the trees in the pots.  At first, I glued the metal roots to a rock and then glued that to the pot.  But I found that it took way too much glue and that the tree wobbles.  I learned that I have a lot of patience for things I like to do.  That isn't the same when I don't like  doing the things. Next I'm going to cut styrofoam pieces and mount the tree to that before putting it the pot.  My plan for next week is to make a new tree with the styrofoam mount for my dad for his birthday.

Getting Started

I finally got my material in the mail and can start working. I've learned about that I need to be careful in cutting the wire all the same length.  I've also learned how to shape the leaves.  I've made my first whole tree.  The more I do it the better I get.  I've learned that I like working with sculpting because I've never done that before.  So, next I plan to make another tree and perfect it.  Next week I'm going to experiement how to anchor the tree to get it in the pot.

In the beggining

My project title is: Building a Metal Bonsai. My goals for this project is to successfully learn how to build a metal bonsai tree. I chose this project because I like art and I like bonsais.  I also like plants and stuff.
